The Mechromancer has finally been released for Borderlands 2 today when it was originally set to release on the 16th October which is good news. The Mechromancer is a new character which has a new skill called the Deathtrap, a robot who is sent out to do big damage to enemies. Deathtrap has a 60 second cool down rate which seems quite long shouldn’t be too much of a problem. The Mechromancer comes with 3 new skill trees; Best Friends Forever, Little Big Trouble and Ordered Chaos.
All new skill trees are bringing differences which could change the way Borderlands 2 is played, the one that will bring the biggest difference is Ordered Chaos as this skill tree gives negative effects as well as giving positive ones such as the Anarchy skill which gives you better gun damage but takes away accuracy as you kill or reload a fully emptied magazine, this effect can stack 150 times giving the potential for close up combat dealing a mass of damage! This skill tree will put some interesting gameplay for the class as it will change the way I play borderlands and will most likely change the way others play too giving fresh gameplay to the game.
Best Friends Forever gives the chance for new FPS players to play the game as certain skills allow people to regenerate health on full magazines and if the player isn’t very good at shooting there is a skills called Close Enough that allows miss aimed bullets to bounce of walls allowing damage to be done even if you’re not the best at aiming. This skill tree also has a great skill for the Deathtrap in which he will gain additional melee damage and duration time for every kill he makes which will carry on stacking with no cap until all the enemies are dealt with. A good idea for a skill tree in my eyes although personally I don’t think I’ll go for this one.
The next class is Little Big Trouble which focuses on the Shock element which is interesting as Borderlands hasn’t had a shock based character before, skills include giving out shock blast novas whenever you reload, killing enemies increased you burn, sock and corrosive damage. Other skills include killing enemies with critical hits gives out shock damage to nearby enemies which also works when Deathtrap kills an enemy.
Anyone who pre-ordered Borderlands 2 will get this update but for those who haven’t can buy it separate for around £7.99, if you’re in the US $9.99 and if you’re on Xbox it’ll be around 800 Microsoft points.
